Craigslist. Dead posts, zero filters, zero trust. You can’t search “drummer, metal, within 10 miles”.

Buried in an hour

Facebook groups. Endless noise. No profiles, no matching. Your “looking for a bassist” post vanishes in an hour.

Music shop noticeboard

Anyone know a keys player?

Ask for Dave. Or leave a note with the till.

New in town

Word of mouth. Only works if you already know the scene. New in town? Good luck finding anyone.

Forums & Reddit. Walls of text, no faces, scattered across the planet. Never built for playing music together.

So we built the opposite. Meet JamFan.

The matching engine

Not just keyword filters.
Actual musical compatibility.

JamFan learns what you play, love and want, then puts the players you’ll genuinely click with in front of you. It knows a post-punk fan and an indie-rock fan belong together, not just exact tag matches. If you’ve ever used a dating app, you know how this works. We just made it for musicians. And when you know exactly what you need, filter for it - location, instruments, genres - while matching ranks everyone inside your net.

You play bass. Mia plays drums.

Different instruments. Every band needs both.

You’re into post-punk. Mia’s into indie rock.

Not the same keyword, but JamFan knows they’re related.

Plus skill level, location and intent, all weighed in.

FAQ

Everything you want to know.

How do I find musicians near me?

Create a free JamFan profile with your instruments, genres and location, and we surface compatible musicians nearby, ranked by real musical compatibility. Match, message, and meet up to jam.

Musicians near me
Can I use JamFan to find a band or bandmates?

Absolutely. Whether you want to join a band, start one, or fill an empty spot (a drummer, a bassist, a singer), JamFan is built to find the right players near you.

Find bandmates
Is JamFan free?

Yes. Finding musicians, matching, the social feed and messaging are all free. Paid features for venues, agencies and gigs are on the roadmap.

How does JamFan match musicians?

JamFan looks at what you play, the genres you love, your skill level, how far you’ll travel and what you’re looking for, then puts the people you’ll genuinely click with in front of you. It understands that similar styles belong together, so you get real matches, not just exact keyword hits.

Do I need to be a professional musician?

Not at all. JamFan is for everyone: total beginners, weekend hobbyists, gigging semi-pros and touring professionals. Set your skill level and what you’re after, and we’ll match you with people on your wavelength.

What instruments and genres can I choose?

Loads: from guitar, drums, bass and vocals to keys, strings, brass, production and DJing, across every genre from jazz and blues to metal, hip-hop and electronic. If you make music, you’ll find your people.

Can I post videos on JamFan?

Yes. Every musician identity gets a showcase of up to six short audio and video clips that play story-style right on your card in Discover. You can also post videos to the feed and send them in chats.

Can I filter musicians by instrument or genre?

Yes. Stack up to 8 instruments and 8 genres at once, pick a spot on the map and set a radius from 5 to 500 km. Matching still ranks everyone inside your filters by real compatibility.

Can I browse musicians by city?

Yes. Discover has browsable city directories that grow with the community - like guitarists in London - across 70+ supported cities worldwide, and you can explore them without an account.

Browse musicians
Is JamFan safe to use?

We take safety seriously. There are reporting tools throughout the app and we actively review reports. Anyone who breaks our terms, or the good-natured spirit JamFan was built on, loses access. That said, we don’t personally vet members, and meeting anyone from online carries some inherent risk. Use common sense: meet in a public place first, tell a friend where you’ll be, and trust your instincts.

How old do you have to be to use JamFan?

JamFan is 18+ for now. We know the journey to find your musical people often starts younger, and we’d love to open it up. We’re putting extra safeguarding in place first so we can do it responsibly.

Which devices does JamFan run on?

iOS, Android and the web. Sign in on any device in seconds, however suits you best.

Can I contact the JamFan team?

Absolutely, we’d love to hear from you. Send us a message any time, whether it’s a question, feedback, a bug or a press enquiry, and a real human will get back to you.
